Age, sun, and other factors can lead to developing wrinkled and lined skin. For many people, developing older-looking skin can be harmful to their self-esteem, especially if you look older than you actually are. At Artistic Contours, we offer Juvéderm® Vollure™ XC dermal fillers in Warwick, Rhode Island, to help reduce the appearance of your facial lines, particularly around the nose and mouth. If you are looking to regain your youthful appearance, we invite you to contact us today at 401.732.1440 and set up your consultation with our cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Mohammad Banki and Dr. Frank Paletta.
Juvéderm® Vollure™ XC is a dermal filler that is injected into the skin to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and lines, and give you a more youthful appearance. The active ingredient in Vollure, like most other dermal fillers, is hyaluronic acid, which can help improve and accentuate the contours of your face and reduce skin impressions. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found within your body, and it helps keep your tissue and dermal cells hydrated. When it is in a dermal filler, however, hyaluronic acid is safely modified to rehydrate your skin and tissue cells, giving your skin a tighter and younger look.
While dermal fillers can typically be applied anywhere around the face, Vollure is mainly used to treat areas around the nose and mouth. The most common treatments are for:
- Oral commissures: downturned lines at the corners of the mouth
- Nasolabial folds: also known as “smile lines,” these come down from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines: lines that run straight down from the corners of the mouth to the chin, making you look unhappy
Vollure can also be used to treat perioral lines (wrinkles around the mouth, often caused by frequent pursing of lips), the lips, chin, temples, and jaw line.
Being treated with Vollure takes only a few minutes, and in most cases, the effects can last as long as 18 months. During your treatment, you will be numbed to allow your treatment to be more comfortable. You may experience some redness in the treated area, but it typically lasts no more than a few days. Because treatment is quick and does not interfere with your ability to perform regular tasks, you can return to your day immediately after your treatment.
